Senegal signed the Maputo Protocol in December, 2003 and ratified it in December, 2004.  2012: Article 7 of the Constitution. Article 7 of the Constitution adopted in 2001, and amended in 2012, includes the following provisions: The human person is sacred. It is inviolable. The State has the obligation to respect it and to protect it.
