Ghana signed the Maputo Protocol in October, 2003 and ratified it in June, 2007.  2013: the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection created to replace MOWAC (M of Women and Children) Ghana launched the updated National Gender Policy and the Strategic Plan in 2015 and 2016 respectively. This was done to mainstream gender-responsiveness for inclusive development to ensure that the rights, interests and special needs of women and girls are integrated into policy formulation and implementation. Strengthen the Capacity of Gender Focal Persons, Planning and Desk officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Gender-responsive budgeting and gender mainstreaming
