Oxfam, UN Women and SOAWR, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, Women, Gender and Development Directorate will hold a Training of Trainers on the Multi-Sectoral Framework for Government Officials and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the Domestication of the African Union Protocol on the Rights of African Women (The Protocol). Organised by the State of the Union coalition, the Play for the Union campaign brings together over 10,000 people from all regions of Africa together to discuss and reflect on the type of continental integration that would make a difference for their lives and what matters to them. The Maputo Protocol is a ground-breaking women’s rights legal instrument that expands and reinforces the rights provided in other human rights instruments. The Protocol provides a broad range of economic and social welfare rights for women. Importantly it was produced by Africans and pays attention to the concerns of African women.
