FORUM MULHER

Forum Mulher é um Fórum da Rede Mulher que trabalha pelos direitos das mulheres moçambicanas. O Forum Mulher trata de questões de género e desenvolvimento, advocacia e lobbying, assim como trabalho de educação e informação. O Forum Mulher tem o seu escritório principal em Maputo.

Forum Mulher é uma organização importante dentro da sociedade civil em Moçambique no que diz respeito às mulheres e questões de género. Através de um trabalho intensivo de advocacia e lobby Forum Mulher conseguiu grande influência na nova lei de família do país, assegurando a posição legal e o reconhecimento das mulheres.

Algumas das suas áreas específicas de trabalho são: fortalecer a rede de formadores e consultores a nível provincial; desenvolver políticas que incluam os princípios da igualdade e equidade de género; melhorar o conhecimento dos direitos das mulheres e das leis que defendem estes direitos através da disseminação de protocolos internacionais e leis nacionais; melhorar o acesso à justiça, especialmente para as vítimas de violência baseada no género, melhorando o acesso a serviços jurídicos, aconselhamento e advocacia sobre instrumentos legais; melhorar a informação sobre o trabalho do Forum Mulher e sobre questões relacionadas com as mulheres através do website, internet, boletim informativo, rádio e televisão.

O Forum Mulher também se concentra no reforço da capacidade institucional dos seus membros, da capacidade das redes e organizações provinciais de mulheres e género em quatro províncias, para as apoiar no trabalho coordenado e na defesa da igualdade dos direitos da mulher.

Forum Mulher (Women’s Forum) is a Women’s Network Forum that works for the rights of Mozambican women. Forum Mulher deals with gender and development issues, advocacy and lobbying, as well as education and information work. Forum Mulher has its main office in Maputo.

Forum Mulher is an important organization within civil society in Mozambique as regards women and gender issues. Through intensive advocacy and lobby work Forum Mulher has achieved major influence on the country’s new family law, securing the legal position and recognition of women.

Some of its specific areas of work are: to strengthen the network of trainers and consultants at the provincial level; to develop policies that include the principles of gender equality and equity; to improve knowledge of the rights of women and of the laws defending these rights by disseminating international protocols and national laws; to improve access to justice, especially for victims of gender-based violence, by improving access to legal services, counselling and by advocacy on legal instruments; to improve information on the work of the Forum Mulher and on women’s related issues through the website, internet, newsletter, radio and television.


Forum Mulher (Women’s Forum) also focuses on strengthening the institutional capacity of its members, the capacity of provincial women’s and gender networks and organisations in four provinces, to support them in working in a co-ordinated manner and advocate for equality of women’s rights.
