Strategic Initiative for the Horn of Africa (SIHA)
Strategic Initiatives for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) network, was started in the early 1990's and comprises of 28 member organisations and advocates for the social change and gender equality for women in the Horn of Africa. SIHA which means outcry in Arabic works on mobilizing women's organizations in the Horn of Africa for peace and human rights and to become full participants in decision making leadership at the local, national, regional and international levels in Civil Society and Government. SIHA network provides a forum for Women's organisations in the Horn of Africa to achieve the following objectives:
- promote cross fertilization of ideas and experiences
- mobilize and share resources for common goals
- collaborate at the local, national and regional levels on major policy issues with a focus on peace and human rights
- Strengthen their capacity in advocacy and leadership through training of activists
