Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW)
The Coalition on Violence Against Women Kenya is a women's rights organization that is committed to the eradication of all forms of violence against women and the promotion of women's human rights. COVAW has continued to grow over the years and has locally spearheaded the Annual Sixteen Days of Activism Global Campaign which has been instrumental in placing violence against women in public and political domain. COVAW believes that violence against women whether in public or private domain is a human rights violation; that women have a right to be free from violence; the right to self defense; and that people have the capacity to learn and change. The organization is managed by a Board comprising of five women while the secretariat which runs the daily affairs of the organization has eight full time staff who work with the assistance of interns and volunteers.
